I have a collection of porcelain Chinese rice spoons that I inherited from my mum. The designs vary from the basic blue and white design with the translucent rice pattern to gorgeous bright patterns in yellow, pink and turquoise.
I have taken a section of pattern from a few of the spoons to create this colourful fairisle design.
The lace panel which acts as the button band is worked from the translucent design in the bowl of the blue and white spoon.
I have knitted the design in 4ply cotton and add added a few buttons for embellishment.
